Ignorance is Rampant in DC and on Twitter

Twitidencial SealI'm always amazed at the power that something like Twitter has. If you want to know what people are thinking in the moment, there is nothing out there that compares. Yesterday was another example of that. Right now, our nation's politicians are trying to figure out how best to handle America's debt crisis. I'm not going to get into the specifics, but there are two basic issues at play; Raising the limit, because we are about to be there, and also a need to get the spending under control. Needless to say, true to recent American Politics at play, no one can agree on how to do this . . . Talking heads on both sides have taken the time to go before cameras to bad mouth the other side.

Nowadays, almost everyone in DC has a Twitter account. They use Twitter to share stuff with their followers. Our own President has such an account and used it yesterday. . . . He tweeted that now was the time for compromise. But then he proceeded to urge his more than 9 million followers to call upon ONLY their Republican representatives to compromise . . . . . I'm sorry, but I find this insulting. What about the Democrats and Independents? Are they exempt from needing to Compromise?

Obama's Compromise

One thing that has been retweeted along with graphs, is just how many followers Obama's account lost yesterday. Somewhere between 30 and 40 thousand. So obviously people didn't appreciate all those Tweets urging folks to attack the Republicans. I see this as a non-story. What percentage is 35,000 people when you started with almost 10 million? Less than 1% for sure.

But then it started! Obama supporters started doing what was asked of them, using the #compromise hashtag. Those said Republicans started answering those tweets asking just what was the Democrats or Obama's plan? So now, "We the people" are all fired up and ready. Democrat supporters started calling out Republican supporters and Vise Versa, and the next thing you know, it's nothing but noise. I just looked, people are still going at it this morning.

Typical of this whole country nowadays, "Much is being said, but nothing is being done". This makes me mad! The only people stupider than those DC idiots are the idiots that elect them to office, and then defend them along a political party line, regardless of the issue. Like most things in America, this isn't about Republican or Democrat, but about America! Defending one party or attacking another doesn't help! It was wrong of Obama to ask his supporters to only attack one party, but then, we the end users going on Twitter to call each other names doesn't help either. . .  I actually saw tweets from persons bragging about how awesome it was that Obama was using twitter to attack Republicans. Note, I have elected to use the very clean examples only.

You know what I find so ironic in this whole mess? It was all in the name of "COMPROMISE". . . . . . I'm pretty sure no one in Washington, and many of the people using that hashtag have no idea what the word even means . . .
