Android's Gingerbread - Not Today

Rumors have been rampant the last few weeks about the pending release of the next version of Android.  Most are calling it 2.3 -Gingerbread.  Everyone has seemed to believe the date of 11/11/10 as to the announcement.  I wanted to believe, but I no longer do! That date happens to be today! A quick check of all the tech news sites I frequent and if anyone of them has been invited to any kind of event, those groups haven't posted it! That's the biggest reason why I just don't think it's going to drop today.

Another note as I am following the #gingerbread tag in Twitter. For all you people out there hoping that today is the day you get the magical upgrade. If history is any indicator, when gingerbread does drop, it will be for Developers. And if 2.2 is any indicator, it will then push to the Nexus One owners and sometime later to your Sense, Blur, etc devices. I hope I'm wrong! But at this point, I am pretty skeptical that anyone will see any upgrade today, and we will be lucky if masses are seeing it by Christmas. If it makes you feel any better, I really do hope I'm wrong!

Come on Google, make me eat these words!

About Me

I'm a middle aged guy who finds much pleasure in today's technology. When I find a gem, or figure something out, I put it here in this site. When time allows, I enjoy camping with my wife. I love the outdoors and live in an area where I get to experience all 4 seasons in all their glory. I always keep a camera handy, so expect to see those adventures documented here as well.
