My Top 5 Android Smartphone Apps

Over the last couple of years, I've taken the time to document my Top 5 Android Apps. This list changes and morphs as I discover more cool apps and ways to use my Android Smartphones. I checked and realized I haven't bothered listing those apps here since July, so I thought it was time once more!  Again, my rules . . . These are apps I must use daily.  There are several awesome apps out there, but for it to appear on my list, frequency of use plays a very important role in what makes this list. Also, a new rule . . These apps are used on my smartphone. I will soon release similar articles on what my favorite apps are on my Android Tablet as well as my iPad.

  • Weather Bug Elite - Get the latest current conditions, forecasts, radar animation, alerts and more! Very Handy, Attractive, and includes a handy Widget!

Weather Bug

  • Google Voice - If you read this blog at all, you know what I fan I am of this service. What does it mean to smartphones? Free Texting, an inbox that includes a transcript of the voicemail, one free number that can reach me across several devices.

Google Voice

  • Pulse - Pulse News is a beautiful app that takes your favorite websites and transforms them into a colorful and interactive mosaic. Tap on an article to see a clean and elegant view of the news story. Save stories for reading later across all platforms or sync them with Instapaper, Read it Later and Evernote. Sharing a story via Facebook, Twitter and email is as easy as two taps.

Pulse

  • Hootsuite - Update Twitter, check in on foursquare, view your LinkedIn connections, and comment on your friends' Facebook posts wherever you are. Upload photos, receive notifications, view click stats, and more. Simple, elegant, and powerful, HootSuite allows you to send and schedule Twitter updates from anywhere. This one has replaced Tweetdeck as my Twitter client of choice. It just seems to perform better.

Hootsuite

  • Google Plus - It might not have the Facebook Billions of users, but I am really enjoying this app. I love that I can take a photo and that it can auto-upload it to my Photo Albums, for me to share later (or not) You can videochat with up to nine people right from your smartphone! And you can share stuff with who you want!

About Me

I'm a middle aged guy who finds much pleasure in today's technology. When I find a gem, or figure something out, I put it here in this site. When time allows, I enjoy camping with my wife. I love the outdoors and live in an area where I get to experience all 4 seasons in all their glory. I always keep a camera handy, so expect to see those adventures documented here as well.
